Nominate Your Comfort Hero for Good Neighbor Day

Some neighbors do more than live nearby. They notice when someone needs a hand. They check in after a storm. They bring in trash cans, share garden vegetables, help with a ride, volunteer on weekends, or simply make the block feel warmer.
September 28 is National Good Neighbor Day, and Helms Heating & Air is celebrating the people who make our community feel like home. This year, we are inviting the community to nominate a neighbor for a chance to be named our Comfort Hero.
One deserving neighbor will receive a special Comfort Hero Prize Package from Helms Heating & Air as a thank-you for the comfort they bring to others.
We want to celebrate the neighbors who show up
A Comfort Hero does not need a title, a uniform, or a big public achievement. Often, the best neighbors are the people who quietly do the right thing again and again.
They may be the neighbor who always has a tool to lend. They may be the person who brings soup or runs errands for a sick friend. Maybe they keep an eye out for kids and pets. They may welcome new families, help after a storm, or make sure no one on the street feels forgotten. Maybe your neighbor volunteers at school, church, food drives, or community events.
Or maybe they just offer a smile or kind word when someone is having a hard day.
These moments matter. A neighborhood feels safer, kinder, and more connected when peopel look out for one another. That kind of comfort deserves to be recognized.
Helms Heating & Air has been Keeping our Neighbors Comfortable Since 1979, and this contest is one more way to honor the people who help make our community a better place to call home.
Why your nomination matters
Good neighbors often do not ask for attention. They help because they care. That is exactly why their stories are worth sharing.
When you nominate someone, you do more than enter them for a prize. You say, “We see what you do.” You remind them that their kindness has made a difference.
Small stories can have a big ripple effect. One nomination might inspire another person to thank a neighbor. One thank-you might lead to a new friendship. One kind act might remind someone that they are not alone.
