Understanding
Your HVAC Warranty
Know what's covered before you need a repair.
A new heating and cooling system is a big investment in your home. Your warranty helps protect that investment, but HVAC warranties can be confusing. We've put together this guide to help you understand the basics, so you know what to expect and how to keep your coverage in good standing.
The Two Main Types of HVAC Warranty Coverage
Parts coverage and labor coverage are not the same thing. It's important to understand the difference so you know what may be covered when a repair is needed.
Manufacturer Parts Warranty
The parts warranty is provided by the manufacturer of your HVAC equipment. If a covered component fails during the warranty period, the manufacturer may provide the replacement part according to the terms of its warranty.
EXAMPLES OF COVERED COMPONENTS MAY INCLUDE:
Compressor
Blower Motor
Control Board
Evaporator Coil
Capacitor
Other factory-installed components
HVAC Labor Warranty
A labor warranty covers eligible labor expenses associated with covered repairs for a specified period of time. Labor coverage may be provided by the installing HVAC contractor or purchased separately as extended coverage.
LABOR COVERAGE CAN INCLUDE:
Diagnostic Fees
Labor
Refrigerant
In some cases, additional repair-related expenses

EXTENDED COVERAGE
Additional Protection with Comfort Shield
For eligible systems, you can extend your labor coverage with a Comfort Shield extended service agreement. It can include diagnostic fees, covered parts & materials, labor, and refrigerant - providing $0 out-of-pocket repair costs for covered repairs.
